Does working in a tight crew on a small, ecologically focused, direct market, commercial vegetable and pastured pig operation sound exciting?  We want to hear from you!

We are hiring 1-3 Full Time Positions for 2024 and beyond.
See Part Time Positions Below.

OR

All positions are vegetable growing positions with plenty of overlap since Bluebird Farm is a small farm. Join the farmers: Marie and William, and David, our part time Tractor Operator and Livestock Grower.

We are a year round farm with excellent year round markets, and multi-year, year round employment is encouraged on mutual agreement.  We are located in the foothills of the Southern Appalachians in a climate where year round production is easily accomplished with some crop protection.
Commitment duration: From hiring (Feb 1st-April 1st 2024) to end of season (Sunday December 22th, 2024)

Part time Positions

Enjoy the excitement of the farmer’s market. Seeing our farm members and customers at market is one of the most exciting farm jobs. We are looking for people who can commit to working at least 6-8 Saturday markets, does not have to be consecutive.

Part time farm employees must be available for the same day(s) every week for 8-10 weeks so you can learn the tasks that are done at the farm on that day. 4.5 hours- 25 hours/ week. Weekdays only. Saturday hours available for Farmers’ Market work.

At Bluebird Farm we strive for a balanced and smooth workflow.  We use careful record keeping, keen observation, and constant communication to ensure that the right task is getting done at the right time with the right tools. Whether that is catching an insect outbreak early or noticing a fungal problem in a row of tomatoes before it is too late. We work quickly and efficiently to grow tons of nutritious produce-planting, weeding, lots of harvesting, meticulous wash/pack, and fast paced farmers markets.

While we work hard and fast towards goals on the big picture we love noticing and appreciating the small things-beneficial insect eggs here, healthy looking soil there, a perfectly irrigated tomato patch, a pasture where the hogs were moved just at the right time.
